How to Achieve The Knot’s 10 Hot Wedding Trends for 2014

The Knot recently put out some hot wedding trends that we can’t wait to see brides execute at weddings this year! Here are some we especially love and how YOU can achieve them here in South Louisiana:

Woodland Weddings

The Knot describes this trend as “rustic, with sophisticated glam accents.” This includes lots of flowers and greenery with a little elegance thrown in such as a touch of gold or sequins.

We suggest achieving this look with a venue like the Hilltop Arboretum. This outside venue puts you in the garden with beautiful oak trees and flowering plants.   Mix in some rich wood tones, a flower crown, and some hanging chandeliers and you’ve got a beautiful woodland wedding!

Bright Colors

Pops of neon brights are so in right now, and we can’t get enough! Involve your florist to add a pop of neon to your bouquet. One of our favorite florists, Diorcini Event Floral Designs, can add the perfect flair to your wedding by mixing in some bright and fun colorful flowers like these they used to design arrangements for a shoot.

Try this trend at your reception by visiting local thrift shops like, Here Today Gone Tomorrow or the Purple Cow, for items like candlestick holders, photo frames, or small vases. Then take your magic friend, spray paint, and add some neon accents in unexpected places.

Super-Charged Guests

Add a super-cute chalkboard sign to your reception to let your guests know how to share photos, like your social media hashtag. Pull in a chalk graphic artist to make some really great signs or print out a cute sign with a great font and stick it in a pretty frame.

The Year of the Flowers

Flowers are in! The most popular wedding decoration can be found everywhere; from elaborate bouquets, to ceremony altars, cakes, centerpieces, and even fashion accessories! Take it over the top with large flowers to extend their reach, but be sure to keep it in your color scheme. Pick local flowers in season to stay within your budget. Occasionally, you can save a little dough using silk flowers, but be wary as those can add up as well.

We always encourage creativity! Find unique ways to incorporate flowers into your day like flower necklaces and crowns instead of jewelry.
