How to Achieve The Knot’s 10 Hot Wedding Trends for 2015 Posted in Wedding Trends on April 02, 2015 by N-Joy Events The Knot recently put out some hot wedding trends that we can’t wait to see brides execute at weddings this year! Here are some we especially love and how YOU can achieve them here in South Louisiana: Wild West Weddings To really incorporate the western element, start with your venue! With a wedding set in a barn, you’ll help transport your guests to your wild west wedding! If you don’t have a beautiful barn in your backyard, consider the newly built barn at Ashley Manor in Baton Rouge that includes bench ceremony seating, string lights, and a rustic feel perfect for ceremony and receptions! Round out your decor with modern, trendy elements like copper accents and warm-colored florals. Stay away from anything like burlap and lace to keep the decor from being dated. Peace, Love and Macrame: Boho Chic Weddings Boho chic is perfect for the DIY bride on a budget! Your decor doesn’t need to be matchy-matchy. You can achieve this look through thrift store shopping at local places (some local ones we love are Here Today, Gone Tomorrow and The Purple Cow) and borrowing from friends, family, and neighbors. Start with a direction (either a certain color scheme or style) and be open to what you find! This is a great way to incorporate another wedding trend – using live potted plants! With all of your amazing, thrifty decor finds, there will be no need for large, statement floral arrangements. Instead, bring in small plants that match your style. They can be beautiful seasonal flowers or an interesting texture or an evergreen. Consider adding a sentimental factor by asking your relatives for plant cuttings from their own garden and growing them a few months before the wedding (a money saver!). In fact, you may spend a similar or even less amount on purchasing potted plants than a traditional floral centerpiece, but you’ll be able to take them home and enjoy them much longer! Bridal Jumpsuits and Statement-Making Separates We love a good nontraditional bride! After seeing countless strapless, lace gowns it’s a breath of fresh air to see a bride who can rock something as bold as a jumpsuit on her wedding day! Although a little tough to find off the rack, local designer Pedram Couture has made some amazing custom pieces for their brides, including this gorgeous 70’s-style lace jumpsuit and lacy number. Don’t be intimidated by the price tag either, some custom pieces are comparable in price to off-the-rack gowns + fittings and alterations! Unexpected Wedding Venues Delight your guests and make memories you’ll never forget at fun and unusual reception locations. Get creative with venues like the Baton Rouge Zoo, where you can rent out the zoo and have your guests explore the animal exhibits during cocktail hour on the tram. Or the New Orleans Aquarium, a beautiful backdrop for pictures and enchanting place to celebrate! Check out the Audubon Nature Institute’s Pinterest page for ideas and inspiration.
