Wedding Planner Bride: I’m Engaged, Y’all! Posted in Wedding Planner Bride on March 16, 2015 by N-Joy Events Wow! What a whirlwind! I can’t believe it’s already been EIGHT months since I got engaged! I’ve been (trying, although hard with planning other brides’ weddings too!!) working hard on wedding planning details for a while now, but I wanted to be sure to chronicle all of my wedding journey with all of our brides to be. So, I’m starting at the beginning! The Engagement The day he proposed: July 9, 2014 We were putting a styled shoot together that day ( which is to date it is my fave, not just because I was proposed to on that day, but because it was just overall a really amazing shoot.) We were setting up several areas for pictures, and working our way through the venue. We had one shot that required a TON of candles. After that, I took what candles we needed for a different area of the venue to set up for those shots. Some other team members were picking up the rest of the candles. I went back to help them after I set up the next shot, but they said they had it under control. I thought it was a little weird, but I was busy trying to get the rest of the shoot done. I kept looking for Lesley and Maddy (my right and left hand women!) to ask them questions about different shots, but I felt like I could never find them and I was like “where in the world is everyone?” Little did I know, they were busy setting up a super exciting surprise for me! At the end of the shoot, Lesley came up to me and said “Hey, we need to show you something in the back hallway”. We had moved so much stuff around trying to get the shots we wanted so I was worried she was trying to show me something we had broken or messed up in the process. She opened the door to the hallway and all I saw were the candles we had used in a previous shot, lining the hallway and white and pink rose petals scattered around them. All I could think was “we didn’t plan on pink rose petals for this shoot!” and “Ugh! I thought we had all these candles packed already, we’re running out of time!” Lol! Then I saw Jeremiah standing at the end of the candle-lit walkway. Then I was like “Why is he here already? I thought we weren’t meeting up for another hour or so” (we usually go out as a group to have a mini-celebration after styled shoots). Then I saw Erin Guedry taking pics in the corner, a friend/photographer of ours. This confused me even more….why is she taking pics and does she understand that I’m a sweaty, hot mess right now?! Then Jeremiah started talking, saying that he knows we’ve talked about this before and that I already know he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. OH. EM. GEE. This is where it hit me. I started shaking and some tears came, but I kept telling myself to not cry, no one wants ugly cry face pictures of their proposal! To be completely honest, I kind of blanked out after that. I remember him saying that I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to him, that he loves me so much and is so IN love with me and that I’m his rock, heart and motivation. He knew he wanted to marry me the day he met me, but he was just waiting on me to catch up to him! Then he got on one knee and pulled out THE ring. Y’ALL! This thing is so gorgeous, he did such a great job picking it out. (He knows how picky I am, so we took a few trips to Lee Michael’s so he could get a feel for what I wanted.) Of course I said yes, and of course I cried. I knew the proposal was coming at some point, but I had no clue it was going to be that day. I was so surprised! After all the girls huddled around me to see the ring, we walked across the street to Lucy’s (our tradition….we go there for all our “celebrations” after shoots, bridal shows or any reason to have a few drinks and hang with friends) and the girls had a big balloon with our wedding date on it (we already talked about the date we wanted to get married). I know, you’re probably reading this, shaking your head and saying “What the?! You already had your date picked out BEFORE he proposed?!” But hear me out- we are both in the wedding industry; he’s a caterer and I’m a wedding planner. We knew we didn’t want to wait 2 years to get married. We looked at our already booked schedules to see what was left and we had was a 3 week period in September. DONE! That will be our date! Anyway, all our closest friends were gathered there to congratulate us and it really was the best feeling to have everyone there with us, literally seconds after he proposed. He told me later that he tried to coordinate it 2 times before when we were visiting my family, but plans fell through and family members ended up not being able to make the trip so he held off until he knew he could get a group of our friends together to celebrate. Another HUGE part of this, one of the cakes we used for the styled shoot was an actual REAL cake…in my favorite flavor…and we got to eat it while drinking our champagne and admiring my new bling 🙂 I’m so excited to be planning my own wedding, and I still have so much to do! (Sometimes I don’t practice what I preach!) But I’m also excited to let you guys in on my planning and share with you all the things I’ve done, problems I’ve had, and decisions I’ve had to make! We’re only 6 months out (OMG!!) now, so stay tuned! Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
